Today was a really good day.
I got up at 11:30, took a shower, and decided that I wanted to explore Kreuzberg. As soon as I got outside it started spitting and drizzling at me, and it was really windy... but instead of turning around and going back inside I hopped an U-Bahn and took it to the heart of Kreuzberg.
I think it's safe to say that Kreuzberg is like the Brooklyn of Berlin, in a way.. only not as dangerous. There are lots of interesting places to visit and see.. plenty of antique shops, record stores, turkish groceries, second-hand shops, etc. I went into one of the second-hand shops, "Colours", and browsed around for a bit. It's interesting there because they sell items by the kilogram rather than individually. I was really happy when I found a blue suede jacket for only 6.99 euro/kg... it ended up being 5.31 euro.
After that I walked back towards the city center a way that I haven't gone yet and saw a bunch of cool things (including this building with all the satellite dishes). I passed through Checkpoint Charlie and was actually pretty annoyed about having to walk around all the tourists. I've been here for almost a month now, and although I enjoy touring the city and seeing the sights, I don't really feel like I'm a tourist anymore. I eventually made it to Hackescher Markt, where I bought a Döner Kebap and did some grocery shopping.
All in all, it's been a really good day. It remains to be seen what's in store for me tonight, but I'm sure whatever it is it will be fun.
