Rapunzel - Michie Stylee
I was fortunate tonight to be invited to a performance of Rapunzel by the (in)famous Meldrum Players. (They have their roots in Elizabethan theatre - much like visiting minstrels...but not the chocolately kind) Tonight's main roles were:
Miss EllaBelle as Justin, a brave knight/prince
Miss Hannahbanana as the horse, Artex (?), a dragon called Hugo and the narrator (helping to make sense of Justin's frantic style of acting
Miss Callum"I wish I was a girl" as Princess Rapunzel, who spent most of the time either pretending to be asleep or being kissed by Prince Justin.
It was an entertaining, if somewhat confusing show. I was kind of rooting for the dragon, who was really very convincing in the dragon-slaying scene - resplendent with a cushion of "blood" (school jumpers and a red dressing gown) to fall down on in the final throes of an agonising death.
Probably beats whatever crap's on telly tonight.
