Faded history

Today I accompanied Mark and his friend Raymie on their fieldtrip to the river deltas near Sacramento for their Anthropology class. Suffice to say it turned out to be very interesting and actually became related to my major! So, hooray!

Brief history on this picture: California was a destination for many Asian immigrants, including the Chinese. After the 1906 earthquake in San Francisco, many of them migrated further inland. They established markets, communities which later became ethnic enclaves. Amazing to see that most of the influence has still survived.

Can't wait for school to start again. Or am I...
