Old Cortina
A big day today for Christchurch today, the first announcement of whats going to happen to all the damaged homes and ruined land after the earthquakes in September and February. Its a huge step for the people really badly affected because now they can start moving forward and plan for the future. 5100 homes were marked for demolition today with another 10000 yet to have the assessment completed. Wow thats a lot of homeless people with just a slash of a pen, not that they could have lived there. Anyway we are out of Christchurch now I hope all our Blip friends in Christchurch got the news they wanted today.
In my part of the world it was yet again its DFO (dull, flat and orrible) today and blipping is a struggle. I don?t know how many more days I can go without some good light it feels like its a chore.
Anyway, I went out to the old Taieri Airport and the surrounding area and found this immaculate Ford Cortina. Its got to be nearly 40 years old I guess, not being a car person, but it looks brand new. It was parked in the oddest place and I was really wondering what it was doing there.
Around this area there is still quite a few old state houses and.....
It got me thinking...........
Is this the future for Christchurch, cheap and nasty homes build double quick to house all these relocated people?
The number of houses required over the next few months is nowhere near what is available and these people are going to need homes to live in otherwise they will leave town in a mass exodus, glad Im not having to make all these decisions.......
