Golden Goddess

My feet are killing me! Walked such a lot today. Firstly, all around the Charlottenburg castle, then the length of 'Unter den Linden' and 'Strasse des 17 juni' - from the Brandenburg Gate to the Victory column (Siegesaeule). This is the gold goddess that tops the tower and who was gleaming in the low evening sunshine - incredibly shiny! The tower was built in 1873 to commemorate the Prussian victories against Denmark, Austria and France. The goddess, Gold Else, is waving her laurel wreath towards Paris! Best of all, we met up with our friends from the Palatinate, who arrived in Berlin this afternoon. Dined out together this evening on traditional German fare - most enjoyable!
