Wimbledon Diving!

125th Year of the Wimbledon Championship, but at the age of 25 this is my first visit. I was hoping it would line up with the 25th of the month to be in harmony but you can't have it all!

This is Mardy Fish showing some flare in his match against Denis Istomin, whom he went on to beat. I was more inclined to support Istomin as Fish seemed a tad arrogant but it was a good game overall. So good that I even got smacked in the side of the head by a ball going over 100 mph. Luckily it had hit the back wall before deflecting into my ear, so this took some of the impact out of the ball; this is the price we pay for front row seats at the greatest Tennis event in the World.

I was fortunate enough to be able to see Fernando Verdasco play with such vigour. He forced the match against Robin Hasse to a 4th set but he was not able to keep his cool and focus and ended up losing, but it was a fabulous match. After this it was straight back to court no. 2 for the tense match which involved Juan Martin Del Potro V Olivier Rochus. This was ended by Del Potro launching a shoe into the crowd as the match was delayed for bad light. However the shoe launched right out of court 2, some unlucky lucky passer by will have had a large size brand new Nike trainer land at their feet; its a shame he threw the other to the opposite side of the court meaning only a one legged person would gain great joy out of this randomness of owning one cool shoe, unaware as to the identity of the owner. I hope it didn't cause any pain like the ball against my ear had earlier. Ah its all about the weird and wonderful charm of Wimbledon.
