Red Nose Day
The Problem:
Around 400 babies die from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome each year in Australia.
The Answer:
Red Nose Day. Wear a red nose, look like an idiot and raise money for SIDS research and support for bereaved families. It began in 1988 and is now an annual event.
The Result:
The research showed
1. Don't smoke whilst pregnant or near babies
2. Sleep baby on his/her back
3. Don't put doonas/duvets/stuffed toys in the cot with a sleeping baby
4. Safe sleeping environment (cot etc)
5. Sleep baby on their own next to parents bed for 6-12 months
Last year "only" 80 babies died from SIDS.
