On air
1. Today is, without question, the biggest day of my professional life. At 5pm the project I have worked on for months, led on, created, delivered, planned and loved will go live to the world.
2. The rain lashes down so I pop my bright purple waterproof on and join the teams of crew as they begin to arrive. The cars and vans are branded the kit is loaded and off they start to go. All over the country. Ready.
3. I head to STV for my live tv appearance. I've asked my mum to join me and the guest with me is a 14 year old girl who made a piece of Five Minute Theatre. It's great to meet her and I feel better by calming her and relaxing her. It's a lot of fun, good nerves and genuine excitement. As we wait to go on, I watch the clock tick down to 5pm. I'm not there, I'm away. I don't know what's happening.
4. Out of the studio my phone back on and I start to realise what's going on. It's working. This project is live and it's working. The texts and messages are flying in. We are on air.
5. I go back to our HQ and find an inspirational, happy, excited, skilled group of people making magic. It bowls me over. I take a moment or two upstairs, away from everyone and watch what I've done alone at my desk. After a short while we go live to Dundee and Doulgas' play is performed. I know he's there right now and they are making this happen. The tears hit my desk. Great big Heartfelt tears of total joy.
