Umbrellas at Pool

An awkward day for blipping in Athens.

There was a general strike regarding austerity measures and we were warned against heading down town. We had thought that we would head to the Acropolis this afternoon, however the streets were lined with riot police and the Hilton Staff advised not to go out.

This blip is of the umbrellas around the pool from my balcony. It seemed very quiet in our hotel only blocks from the Syntagma Square. Some people from our conference missed the opening night as they became barricaded into their hotels on the square. Other people reported feeling the tear gas sting their eyes as they walked around the city.

Nonetheless it put a dent in the last day for sightseeing before our conference began.
