Cliffhanger....

.....high drama on the road to Drumbeg tonight. We came upon on this crash minutes after it happened as we drove over a high pass near Quinag. The van was balanced close to the cliff edge and the occupants were still sitting inside terrified to move. They weren't actually as close to the edge as they feared and I coaxed the passenger out through the driver side door.

By the time rescue services arrived, the snow was really driving into the mountain side and the journey down the switch-back road was pretty hairy. When we got to the single track road for Drumbeg it was clear that the road surface was not driveable in our two wheel drive car, and so we had to make for the nearest hamlet and get the hotel owners out of their beds to let us stay.

Great excitement and not the most relaxing start to our holiday.
