Going Underground
I usually like to get around by foot, bike or bus but this afternoon I had to get out to Kirkby for a meeting so I took the Merseyrail train.
Kirkby lies about 6 miles north-east of Liverpool and, although there has been some sort of habitation there since the Bronze Age, large scale development only began to take place in the 1950s to house Liverpool people who had lost their homes during the Blitz. During World War 2 Liverpool was the most heavily bombed British city outside London and thousands of people were killed.
Kirkby seems like a really popular destination doesn't it?!
