Cat Nap
Apologies for no post yesterday but it was just one of those days -- thunderstorm in the afternoon, loss of the Internet and a problem with my right eye.
The latter started on Wednesday night after watching The Prisoner of Zenda, (1937) on the Turner Movie Channel. I don't think the two things were related. :-)
It is a splendid movie, with four British stars taking the seven leading roles -- Ronald Colman, Madeleine Carroll, C. Aubrey Smith and David Niven.
As I got up to go and have a cigarette, I noticed this flashing light in my peripheral vision. Having cataract surgery and lens implants, I thought it was probably how the light was catching my eye. Seemed logical to me.
The condition persisted throughout Thursday and was also accompanied by a large circular floater, which I later learned is termed a Weiss Ring. It was only late in the evening that I decided to do a Google search.
It would appear that I have a Posterior Vitreous Detachment, part of the ageing process. The symptoms of the flashing light and floaters could indicate either a retinal tear or detached retina. The advice on allaboutvision.com was to consult an eye specialist immediately.
I duly telephoned one this morning but "immediately" in Florida is different from my interpretation of immediately. My appointment with the Florida Retina Institute is set for Monday afternoon, only a three-day wait!
This afternoon, I got tired of being stuck in the house and with the temperature having dropped 10 degrees, to a mere 87 degrees, I ventured out for a walk and the opportunity to find a more interesting blip than those that have been appearing of late.
I spotted this Siamese cat asleep on the wall. I would have liked to have got a little bit closer but feared the cat would run off if I got too close.
Have a good weekend, y'all!
