Retirement

Was at pals retirement and leaving dinner tonight.

It was fun. Nice folk and heartfelt messages.

I was speaking to one of my bosses after and he said- "Folk always get emotional at these times".

I agreed. I have seen the most organised script written speech fly off into wild tangents of melancholy and memory, overrunning the allotted time, straining to capture the essence before it is lost.

We reflected on the fact that you can never be fully prepared for speeches like that- Life speeches. You just have to go with the flow. The ones that mark your time and meaning on this little blue ball we call home. The ones where you intimate Big changes.
