I made the annual pilgrimage to the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on Saturday for the British Speedway GP. I've been every year, bar one, since it's been at Cardiff and it is a fantastic event. It has good guys and villains, thrills and spills, drama and controversy, and all this within the minute it takes them to do four laps around the circuit.
I know I'm biased but I feel the stadium has everything; the location is right in the centre of Cardiff and close to all the bars and eateries, and wherever you are in the stadium you feel as if you're on top of the action. Oh yeah and it has a roof to eliminate anything that Mother Nature can throw at it.
Greg Hancock won the GP and he is a big crowd favourite! He always has a smile on his face no matter whether he is winning or struggling. Sadly the Brits struggled all night although Tai Woffinden had an impressive cameo performance after Nicki Pedersen, the rider the fans love to hate, was thrown out for breaking the tapes.
Before starting this journal I might have taken a few photos last night or more likely none, but last night I was a man possessed taking photos right, left and centre. Even if I do say so myself I did take a couple of good photographs, and slowly getting the hang of it, in the end I decided on this photo just because it looked kind of dramatic. Hope you like it to.
