An Also Ran

Todays was Sports Day at my son's school.

It had been cancelled and rescheduled twice now in recent weeks, due to bad weather and this was the third attempt to get it underway.

As we made our way up to the top field where it was to be held, we had thoughts that maybe it would be cancelled again for being too hot.

There are superb views of the surrounding countryside and distant hills from the top field and the M61 motorway can be seen winding its' way through the pastures much lower down and some way off.

Quite a few of us agreed it would be a very good spot indeed to build a house, especiallly enjoying the benefit of such extensive views and not being overlooked, not even by the school and church which are just a short walk back down the path through the woods.

Today the dads got a race all to themselves and this particular "laydee" did very well under the circumstances, don't you think?!
