Silk roses!
Serving as the riding secretary to the local (Union nationale) MP in the late 70's, Mother remembers warmly receiving a large bouquet of red silk roses in appreciation for her assistance in getting the very impoverished fishermen some winter Unemployment Insurance that they were being denied by the Québec Government.
She still cherishes the 6 remaining ones she has clung to dearly for 40 years. She has always had the heart of a true social worker.
Of course, I was not a UN supporter, to her dismay, but I love her for her lifelong commitment to the well being of people around her.
p.s. Tip from Mom - to clean 40 year old silk roses, shake in paper bag with fine salt.
