Making a Point
Jane, (who I am VERY proud of) made history today, by uniting Penrith Taxi drivers to protest against the roadworks that cover the town.
I understand that Penrith is being changed beyond recognition, that we will become a supermarket town instead of a market town (although to be fair the two markets we are so proud of are dead in the water) and that the quietness of Penrith town centre will be of benefit to all of the residents (especially the small independent business people that will most certainly benefit from Sainsbury's selling all that non-food stuff) I also appreciate that a car park that Sainsburys pay rental on so you will shop there with (going on research and reading on Sainsbury's as a company and what they do with other sites) a 2 hour parking limit will most definitely make the shopper at that end of town visit the shops at the other end of town after they have been and done their weekly shop and had lunch in the cafe and have five minutes to spare (literally, according to research into shoppers habits, which is why there is usually a 2 hour maximum on private shop car-parks).
I also understand - all sarcasm aside, that work needs to be done, roads need to be fixed, sewerage has to be made safe - but to do it all at once?
Ok, rant over - I try not to do it very often, so please forgive me!
