Bayterek Monument
A little bit of jet lag is a good thing, it gives you free time in strange cities when no one else is around.
Arrived in Astana at eleven last night and woke at six this morning, so took a walk along the deserted Nurzhol Bulvar. The centre piece is the Bayterek Monument. It was closed (or course) due to the unsociably early hour, so I missed the view from the top; maybe when I get back later in the week.
Drove to Karaganda for lunch and spent the evening talking business and drinking toasts with Kazakh cognac; not a bad way to end the day.
