Spider
You might be a little surprised to see a macro shot of something natural on my journal, but it was macro photography that really made me want to take up photography in the first place. In fact, before I came to Japan, I was responsible for the fluorescent microscope in the lab where I worked, so everyday was a close-up photography day!
The shot is of a jumping spider that you commonly find in Japanese houses. They don't weave webs to catch their dinner, but instead sneak around hunting all the little creepy crawlies that might happen to come inside to torment you. You can just leave them alone to do their thing and keep your house beastie free.
