Fountains Abby - The Wrestlers

Decisions, decisions, decisions. Some days I seem to spend far too long contemplating over which shot to use. This was one of those days. I chose this statue in the end (which was one of many set within the grounds) because of the superb craftsmanship and detail. And I liked it.

Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal is a huge estate of beauty, contrasts and surprises including the largest abbey ruins in the country and one of England's most spectacular Georgian water gardens.

Set in 800 acres of beautiful countryside there's so much to see and do, with ten historic buildings to discover spanning 800 years of history and acre after acre of open space. Fountains Abbey is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the valley of the river Skell, on the doorstep of the Yorkshire Dales.

It's well worth a visit if you're in the area. The only disappointment to the day was the unpredictable weather!
