Pigeon Racing

This is the Munster Federataion lorry that carries 200 pigeons from Ireland all the way to Thurso so that they can race back to Ireland again!! I stopped and had a nice chat with the man in the blip who is in charge of the care and welfare of the birds and he explained that they had just arrived in Thurso this morning and the pigeons would not race until tomorrow morning as they needed to rest and recuperate from their trip up here.

It will take the birds 12 hours to get back to their homes in Ireland tomorrow but the men wont arrive back until Friday! He was very passionate about the whole pigeon racing hobby and said that It was a "disease" that he had. He even showed me photos of his pigeon loft back in Ireland and was taking photos of his favourite birds - forgot to ask him if he was a blipper!
