I go to the library most days to read the newspaper. They have The Independent. Todays front page concerns the strike by teachers and others over their pensions. It points out that the average pension for a teacher is £10,000 p.a, for a health worker £4000, and for a Civil Servant £5000. Members of Parliament on the other hand receive an average pension of £21,000. It's good to know that we are 'all in it together'
My wife 'Trotsky' is a retired teacher and I worked in Local Government. We worked for 40 years and contributed to our pensions while earning no more than average salaries. To attack public workers pensions while bankers coin in massive bonuses is a disgrace.
We should not be made to pay for the 'crisis'
