WEIGHT
This is a blip of my scales. Today I am 9 stone & 13 pounds. Sometimes I am 9 stone & 8 pounds. Sometimes I am 10 stone.
Last year at this time, my weight fluctuated between 9 stone 13 pounds and 10 stone & 4 pounds.
So why am I so much lighter now? Haven't a clue. It's all a bit of a mystery to me.
I have never ever been seriously overweight. I'm 5ft 5 inches tall and the most I have ever weighed is about 10 and a half stone.
The first time I weighed 10 and a half stone was when I was living in Canada in 1987. That was the first time that I ever felt seriously fat. When I got into the bath I could feel my thighs rubbing together. I'm not sure why I put on so much weight. I'm not sure how much I weighed when I first went to Canada but I guess it was probably around 8 and a half to 9 stone. Friends in Canada said that everyone put on weight in the winter. They said it was because it was so cold, people had to build up a layer of fat to protect themselves from the very cold winters. I have to say I didn't believe them. However, come spring/summer the weight just fell off me. Perhaps it was something to do with the temperature. Or perhaps it had something to do with the fact that I was going to aerobic classes every day and cycling everywhere. Who knows?
The second time I weighed 10 and a half stone was about 7 or 8 years ago when I was only working 1 day a week. I was spending most of my time lying in the sun, eating crisps and drinking wine. So I did end up a bit podgy.
Now I have a dog so I walk for at least a couple of hours a day, I try and swim 3 or 4 times a week, I work so I'm not lying around all day, and I don't eat nearly as many crisps as I used to. Still drink lots of wine though.
Today I would consider that my life is quite healthy. Though how does one describe healthy?
Healthy to me is exercising, eating good food and not over indulging in alcohol, cigarettes or drugs.
I've never taken any drugs & I don't smoke but I do over indulge in alcohol. As far as I'm concerned one sin out of five isn't bad??!!
If you compare me to the people who appear on the 'Jeremy Kyle' show, then I'm positively the healthiest person in the world.
At the end of the day I think what one weighs doesn't really matter. As long as each individual is happy with their own weight then they will be happy inside.
Even at 10 and a half stone, my heaviest, I've always been happy and confident with my body.
