Imola

We visited Imola today.

I'm a big F1 fan so I couldn't resist a quick trip to Imola as it's very close by.

I've always been a fan of Renaults due to my family being involved with a dealership in the highlands. As i'm an F1 fan I was a big fan of Williams as they used to use Renault engines to power their cars.

Back in 1994 Ayrton Senna was driving for the William Renault F1 team when he sadly lost his life. I imagine for everyone there's someone who dies and you can remember exactly where you were and what you were doing when you heard about it.

When I was 11 I had spent the weekend with my sister in Inverness and was being taken back home to my parents in Tain which had annoyed me because it meant I missed the race. We were driving through Alness high street listening to the radio when the news came on and the first article on was that Ayrton had died. It's a bizzare feeling. You've never met these people yet they still seem so real to you.

Anyway, we visited the track and the memorial. Fans still go there and leave him scarfs, flags, etc.
