Through Jo's Lens

Right Said Fred

Today the village has its annual scarecrow festival...I love it. Unfortunately, as some of you on here will already be aware, I am not the most organised of people and I do tend to leave everything until the last minute. My friend, Kath, said I would be up until 2pm this morning finishing our offering but I had actually finished him at 11.45pm. Impressive! That was including the fact that I have had a very busy week this week....as well as the kids, work and the house (bit neglected but who cares!), I also had a trip to Grimsby and a trip to Liverpool. I know, you're all dead jealous, aren't you!? I have a bit of back blipping to complete.

This is our Fred Dibnah scarecrow, just in case you were wondering. Graham was saying that the glasses and the shape of his chin aren't "quite right". I was saying: "You're not really helping much are you, Graham? It's a scarecrow f'Gawd's sake...not going to be appearing in Madame Tussaud's any time soon!"

The school my sons attend had its school fair today too. I had been working this morning so rushed down to meet Graham and the boys as soon as I'd got home. The school was buzzing, it was an amazing turn out...certainly the best I'd ever seen, it was outdoors too. It's usually held in the school hall due to the weather. The sunshine definitely helped. There were donkey rides, bouncey castles, a dog show, dog agility, stalls, cakes galore and a cafe. Right good!

I did write in a previous blip about having a nightmare time with tv brackets. They were attacking me in my sleep, it was horrendous! I bought three which were useless...then I bought one off Amazon which cost around £18 (inc p&p) but had been reduced from £119....I mean, REALLY!! It arrived a couple of days ago, was surprisingly of a very good design and quality, and today Graham drilled four holes (two of them a bit over enthusiastically as they went from Lewis's room straight through to Jed & Rowan's room!!) and fixed the bracket to the wall AND fit the tv onto it AND connected up the OUTDOOR aerial. A round of applause me thinks!!!

What else of news today? Oh, Lewis had his first solo trip to the local cinema/retail park with a friend from school, Josh. Josh's Mum kindly dropped the boys off and then they were free. They saw the film, did a bit of shopping (Lewis came home with groovy shoes no less), went to a fast food outlet (won't for shame put it on here) and then Josh's Mum collected them again. Good of her and good to see the boys being sensible with their newly found independence (gulp!)
