Journey Through Time

Pomeroy Farm - Old Car

Bill and I had a wonderful day and I have about 180 images to choose from, so this was hard. Thankfully, I have the Blipfolio, so I can add a few other images from our day. Explanation of this image is forthcoming!

First off, we had a perfect weather day. Glorious. Then we went to North Clark County and we went for a drive down Lucia Falls Road, which led us to the Pomeroy Farm. This is a property that is owned by the descendants of the Pomeroy family that moved there in 1910. They open the farm to the public about one weekend a month and there are different things that they do. Today and tomorrow they had the old steam logging camp set up and we went on a tractor pulled hay wagon over to that part of the farm that has this set up. That was a wonderful thing to see...the donkey, the spar pole, the old log truck. They have the farm house to look at with the ladies in the rooms explaining life and times of the Pomeroy family. There is the old blacksmith building, which is the oldest building in N. Clark County, built in 1910. It was the only structure to survive two fires, that destroyed the other buildings. The farm house dates from 1920. They also rent out their space for special events and weddings. Of course, they have a website.

We drove down the highway a bit and came to Lucia Falls Park and after that Moulton Falls Park. This is the Lewis river and there are wonderful parks there and the river just a fun thing to see, for me. We used to 'go to the river' a lot at certain times in my youth, and I kind of miss that. There were quite a few people out and about and the day was just perfect for a picnic and watching the water rush by, although that's not what we did. Maybe another time!

I made my menfolk look at all the pictures and they had to pick one for me. I couldn't decide. They both picked a car image, and so, this one is up here. I played and made it look "antique". Bill found this car, hidden in the shrubbery by that old building. I have no idea why it was like this, because the rest of the farm was picture perfect. There were some barriers set up and we weren't supposed to go snooping back there, but we did. That car had moss or grass growing on the top of it.

Be sure to see what else I added to my blipfolio. It was a day of riches, as this morning a Swallowtail butterfly was on my dahlia. Almost put him front and center...but he/she is on my blipfolio.

PS I guess, if you want, you can see a lot of the pictures here.
