Ni Hao from China!

Welcome to Beijing you lot!

First stop is The Place, a recently built shopping centre not far from the Silk Market (shall be paying that a visit). Its main attraction is the giant tv screen - It's the biggest digital tv in China, coming second in size to the one in Vegas.

Only two phlegm counts this evening. (Ninny Salad and I came to the 'jing in 2006 and we had an ongoing count of how many people decided to 'phlegm up' and spit it out as we walked around). It doesn't look as if the authorities' attempts to quit the spit, before the Olympics has been very successful. However, there were lots of uniformed welcoming committees holding Olympic boards at the airport earlier, complete with beaming, ear-to-ear smiles.

Anyway - am pooped. Bed time. Expecting the jet lag to hit tomorrow, but hoping to go grocery, gym and sim card shopping,
