contentment
notes from Willowcreek church today:
Philippians 4:10-13
contentment in abundance or suffering?
contentment is something to be learned.
v.12: contentment is independent of circumstances
suffering-->endurance-->character-->hope
-even in suffering situation, you can still find contentment.
-either situation (suffering/abundance) choose contentment
-In abundance, tempted to ask for "alittle bit more"
-"More" will never be enough
-Good or bad circumstance, contentment has no long-term effect
Contentment is independent.
-we don't have to wait for our best days, God wants us to enjoy life right now.
v.13: contentment is DEPENDENT on Christ
-"all things" = low, high point in life and we don't have to do all this by ourselves
-Philippians 4:4-7 - God's peace will prevail
-finding a way to rejoice
activity: list things i choose to rejoice in.
contentment is an active pursuit to know Christ and let Him be known
-contentment in both: abundance and suffering
