The dead rose...
...that I was going to blip yesterday until something better turned up. In the absence of anything better today, here it is, the last remaining bit of the birthday bouquet over a month ago from #2 daughter. Feeling grumpy today - no, not the dwarf, although I'm not sizeist. Dragged the seal pup a few meters outside the back door to sit and read in the sun (me, not the pup), but this was thwarted by the screams of neighbouring kids "playing" games such as something they called Extreme Punishment, which is what it was for me. Why can't young kids enjoy playing without shrieking and squealing in a way which hurts your teeth, eyes and chest, and makes you feel like dashing your head against a wall just to stop the pain? My 4 never behaved like that; at the first sign of one turning squealer I'd employ my special patented look to halt them in their tracks, and then diverted them into doing something much more sociable. I may be old-fashioned (well yes, I know I am) but I think it's a parent's job not to inflict their little darlings on others, especially those who've already raised theirs and just want a little peace and quiet now. The other thing I'm fussy about is eating in the street - even now I can't bring myself to do it, and certainly never let the kids - it's so slovernly and wrong. They didn't miss out on icecreams and things - just had to sit on a wall or bench to eat them without smearing passers-by or dropping them for someone to slip on. And litter goes in a bin or gets taken home, for God's sake! What are these parents thinking? My special look was no use today as the noisy brats were behind a wall, and once they discovered that by alternating pretend barking with the screams they could get my 3 dogs barking up a storm in reply, I finally gave up and went back indoors. At times like this I wish I could just get away.
Gotta go
I hope you're ready 'cos
Take a look outside,
Don't mind the weather, girl
Let's take a ride
Get away
We'll leave the city folk
They'll have to stay
Don't have to pack a thing
Just get away
Gotta go
Get away
Take a look at that deep blue sea
Don't you think it looks great, hm
Not a cloud to be seen in the sky
And the sun won't wait
I believe that the time is right
Don't let it slip away
Instead of dreaming 'bout tomorrow
You can live today
If you get away
I know a little place
Not far from town
Gotta go
A kind of pretty place
Three up, two down
Get away
I think if ever you
Decide to stay
Well I know it's gonna be
Because we've got away
Got away
Get away
Gotta go
Get away
Gotta go
Get away
Gotta go
Get away
Gotta go
I know a little place
Not far from town
Gotta go
A kind of pretty place
Three up, two down
Get away
I think if ever you
Decide to stay
Well I know it's gonna be
Because we've got away
Got away
Yes we got away good
Get away
Got away good
We went and got away good.
Gotta get away.
Gotta got away
Gotta go,
Gotta get away.
Get away.
Go, gotta get away,
Gotta get away and go
Go, go, go go.
You gotta get away
You get away and go go
