True friends

What is the definition of a true friend?
To listen, to be there for you when times are bad, know when to arrive with cake and tea or a bottle of wine, to laugh with?

I have just spent the weekend with friends, we have done nothing for three days. OK we went for a walk, cooked, invited people for a BBQ (see yesterday) but generally we did nothing. There were no awkward silences, no asking what people wanted to do to fill in the time. Just togetherness.
