A Reminder from home
In the Lake District for two days delivering some training to our Northern office, it's a journey I hate to make because it takes 5 hours and means travelling on one of the busiest sections of motorway in the UK, the M6 Midlands stretch. But when you get here it reminds me so much of back home, with beautiful scenery, proper valleys and of course the lakes themselves.
There is one particular valley you go through which is so typical of the South Wales Valleys, it's also one the RAF seem to use on a regular basis. You can often be driving along and the next minute you hear this big whoosh as a plane screams up the valley and scares the living daylights out of you. Tried to get some good pictures to show you but the old camera was playing up.
Lovely hotel in Penrith, really good rooms, good real ales and a delicious menu which I can understand, unlike last week, so much choice on the menu tonight that I'm still working out what to have. The hotel is right by the M6, you can see the junction in the photo, but is only 5 minutes from the Lakes and the mountains which you can see in the distance.
I often say I'd like to come up here on holiday to enjoy and appreciate the countryside a bit more, but it has never happened, I think its mainly because of the distance and time, which is a shame.
I'm lucky tonight in that a few from work are also staying over, so thankfully I won't be like Billy No Mates sat on his own in the corner on his iPad.
