Not an artichoke

Ok, I have a confession.

The artichoke I have been going on about isn't an artichoke after all. It's an ornamental thistle (a relative of artichokes).

But in my defence I have the seed packet it came from and it is clearly labelled 'globe artichoke'. When I've checked inside there were two distinct types of seeds in there.

I'm afraid this thistle is now for the chop. Although it's dramatic to look at it is just too prickly to put up with the scratches if there is no reward to come.
