Sunshine
I repainted the potting shed inside and out. It needed doing and there was no excuse not to. It was another beautifully warm day. Both Murron and Rowan were out and about, Sam was hibernating in his room and I felt a little bereft. I love the summer holidays - that feeling of days stretching ahead waiting to be filled - planning trips to the beach and packing swimming costumes and sandwiches. Now as the children grow older they want to be with their friends, so we have to strike some kind of balance where home and friends feel equally satisfied. I do miss being able to gather them all up (without too many protestations) and heading off on some mini adventure. Of course we can still do that, but when they were small, even a trip to the park was filled with endless possibilities...
I decided to do some sun prints in the afternoon. I still get excited waiting for the image to be revealed. It was that magical feeling that made photography so irresistible to me as a girl.
Nick was late home and Murron was staying at a friends, so Rowan and I ate together outside. We both read our books and it felt quietly companionable. We finished the last of yesterday's strawberry tart with ice cream. It was mighty fine indeed.
