What's wrong with my haggis?
aka Summer Camp Day 4
Actually, the haggis flew off the table; the Scandinavians and Americans in particular loved our tinned haggis on an oatcake. Granny McSween would be burling in her grave at tinned haggis, actually it is quite nice, and it's so much more transportable than the fresh version. It was the International Night at camp where every troop serves-up examples of their national cuisine.
Our list of treats:
Camp-made Broth (absolutely delicious)
Haggis and Oatcakes
Porridge
Tablet
Edinburgh Rock
Irn Bru
Shortbread
Elsewhere, the Danish troop served roll mop herring on rye bread; delicious.
Top day all in all...... rappelling off a scary cliff (abseiling to you and I) in the morning and then a 'Greenpeace' sponsored workshop on renewables in the afternoon......this consisted of using a huge polished mirror dish to make popcorn, and burning our names into wood with magnifying glasses....the kids loved it.
Off up a 7000 feet mountain tomorrow.
