Independence Day

It's that time of year when people from the wrong side of the ocean have to be reminded what they've been missing out on for the last two hundred years. It's a tough job, staffed mainly by Canadians and Australians, who couldn't care less one way or the other, although they do at least put the letter "u" where it rightly belongs in words like "colour" and "humour".

At least if I have to drink American beer, I'll make it good American beer. This is my concession, and it's thoroughly fulfilled by both Brooklyn Brewery and Sam Adams of Boston. Since we've also got a bottle of Makers Mark bourbon up for grabs, it would be rude of me not to sample it's delights.
