Preston Martyrs
I missed this statue when I was in Preston a couple of months ago, so I was glad to catch it this time.
It's a very bold sculpture by Gordon Young, marking the spot where four mill workers were shot by soldiers in 1842, at a time when the Chartist Movement was inspiring workers to protest their poor wages and conditions.
I've put a small set here so that you can see the rest of the statue.
