One Wedding

[backblip]

We've seen our fair share of wedding cars come and go outside this place. Not only did the majority of family nuptials take place here, but, because we all lived in the street here (you can see our old front door up there), we also were witness to and took part in many other scrambles* as the wedding cars set off for the post service celebrations.

Anyhow, today was the wedding of our niece and we were privileged to be a part of the big day. It's always great to get together as family and friends at these kind of days, and today was no exception. Despite not seeing some relatives for years it was fantastic to see how everyone slipped comfortably and naturally into one another's company again.

The weather was great, the wedding party looked great, the entertainment (both organised and disorganised) was spot on and the steak pie wasn't too shabby either.

Some of us even managed a bit of bar manager baiting too, but that's maybe a story for another day.

Another six days and we'll be celebrating at another wedding, this time though, a bit further away than the street we grew up in.

Congratulations Elaine and Scott, all the very best for your future!

*This is one of the older Scottish wedding traditions that used to follow the church part of a wedding, in which the father of the bride would throw some coins out of the window as the wedding cars left. It was intended to bring good luck financially, but for me it mostly brought cuts, bruises and holes in the knees of my trousers.
