Leanne kindly allowed me to photograph her and her moko.

The moko or maori tattoo is an outward and visable sign of geneology,status and rank of traditional maori and was accompanied by many rites and rituals...women or Wahine were only allowed a chin moko (Wairua) which denoted their rank amongst the tribe as "Kuia",women of wisdom.
