TROOBLE AT MILL
A bit of South Island Pied Oyster Catcher behaviour with a brewing squabble over a Cockle!
An interesting thing about these Oyster Catchers is they force their beak into the cockle ( where it joins ) then prize it open by opening their upper and lower madibles! I figure they must have terrific power in their beaks to do this. It seems like an opposite action to most carnivores who bite their food rather than the opposite. I find that fascinating !!
