Wet and Slimey
A fair description of my children over the next few days I suspect. My boy (goodness how I am missing him) is at Scout Camp near Fort William. Enough said, just the name conjures up images of rain. I don't think I have ever been to Fort William or Oban in the sun. As a scout I expect he will be covered in mud and have touched nothing in his rucksack except the essential biscuit supplies.
My girl is off to T in the Park. The forecast, after today's rain, is for more heavy rain. Her wellies and waterproof will be very necessary, her sun hat, perhaps not so. I worry that she will be cold. Unlike me she has no reserves. I have warned her about staying safe and suggested that I will be scanning the television coverage for pictures of her, so she had better behave. She has been food shopping today. As she said, 'at least I will be able to eat something if I take my own stuff which I know is safe'. I was very proud of her thinking ahead like this. So she has come home from the supermarket with cereal bars, bread, crisps for the crisp sandwiches, sweeties. Really, what did I expect?
Today was the first day in Queensferry, alone, just me and Mum, as it used to be, but with the knowledge of nothing really to attend to. It was hard going for us both. They were so well known in this little village. So today Mum and I stepped out together, holding each other up, with some level of success. I am very proud of her.
