Pedals at Dawn
We rented bikes and were up at dawn, riding through the deserted roads that weave their way around this magical place.
The strange, mountainous landscape was formed 100 million years ago, during the cretaceous period.
At that time, the whole region was several hundred metres higher than it is now. Over time though, networks of underground rivers slowly ate away at the limestone bedrock, forming vast underground caverns.
Eventually, the ceilings of these caverns collapsed, leaving behind the giant, rocky 'growths' we see today.
