Fire Drill !
The worst nightmare of probably all seafarers in the world is fire on board. Most ships have the Engine Room situated right underneath the accommodation. The Engine Room is a location where lots of air, heat and fuel (often under pressure) come together. Not much is needed to create a fatal ignition source. The problem with fighting an Engine Room fire is the simple fact that you have to go down, with the flames and heat coming up. In other words, it is very hard to reach the fire in order to fight it. That's why we are keeping Fire Drills every month in order to train the crew in getting used working with breathing gear. You can't simply go down without a plan, so some thinking in advance is needed. And that's what we try to do with these drills. Not only acting but thinking at the same time.
