He would have been cold
I had an earlier than usual appointment today, and so was out on the road in the dark and home still before sunrise. The wind dropped overnight, and the rain had stopped by this morning. But last night was cold. and it was still pretty cold this morning.
This man had laid himself down in this doorway on Sandringham Road. No blanket or sleeping bag, not even really warm clothing. The only positives were that he was out of both wind and rain. He did move as I went past. I chose to take this at such an angle that his head was unseen.
Less than 400 m away from Eden Park, he will not be welcome here in two months time. Will he have anywhere else to go? Will the authorities care?
