flat went on the market today - heavy sad sigh

this picture is taken from beside Alice's cot as I watch her get out of bed and leave the room. Over and over again. She is very busy.

Just to the right out of picture is Rudy's bed, he is asking me questions one after the other without stopping for breath. What do whale sharks eat? Were you born before me? What size is a bird eating spider? What do spiders eat? Can you tell me a story about being sick? Is Alice 6 or 7?

The pictures are a combination of invitations from friends' weddings, little £2 prints that Rudy chooses from the Edinburgh Printmakers when we visit, a painting by my mum, a print by a good friend of ours called 'the bay back home' which is someone pulling their sledge in snowy wintry moonlight, two drawings I made of the kids as sleeping, peaceful babies - Rudy when he was two days old and still in hospital - Alice when she was about two months old. I remember staring so hard at Rudy as I drew him, trying to draw some belief into my being that this wee amazing person was in my care. And with Alice I was equally amazed and I stared equally intensely, but I was a bit poorly after she was born and well, I think that I found the time exceptionally difficult to find. Hmmm.

The chest of drawers you might remember

going to cut this a bit sharp now - reckon Question Time going to be interesting tonight
