Chalk and cheese....

A very late blip tonight as we've been celebrating Ben's fifteenth birthday with a Chinese meal. You'll note a somewhat radical departure from my usual subject matter! If all had gone to plan I would have uploaded a nice summery picture of a hoverfly - but life got in the way, and then during the evening celebrations I took this shot of Ben and Alex, which I thought would be a better reminder of the day.

I particularly like this photograph because it reflects their characters - they're like the opposite poles of a magnet, and as a consequence are incredibly close. Ben (to the left) is an introvert, ultra-rational, careful, always plans ahead and likes familiarity, structure and order. Alex is an extravert, off-the-wall, live for the moment type of guy - who lives in a happy state of perpetual chaos. They compliment each other perfectly, and we often joke that together they make one fully functional human being!!

PS Alex's moustache was drawn on with permanent marker(!!) - practising for the time when he has enough facial hair to grow a real one!
