Braccio Del San Fuori

One day all the Saints were having a wee drink and a muck about after a long day of Sainting. They started having mini competitions ?Who can do this the longest?? ?Who can do that??

One young not so well known Saint who went by the name San Nessun Nome said he could hold his arm out longer than any other saints, the others laughed ?But your so small and you?ve not even got a proper name!? They all stood up with their arms out in jest ?This will be so easy,? they joked. Many of the other saints quickly lost interest, but a few were very competitive and stood for three days, determined to win. Slowly one by one the saints lost their arms and admitted defeat, all except San Nessun Nome, who was as stubborn as an ox. He stayed standing long after all the other saints couldn?t hold out any longer. From then on he was known as Braccio Del San Fuori.
