...baby wants results.....
Well, not baby really....Shaun wants results.
I have a day off today as pay back for the Royal Wedding day. So I thought I'd go and surprise the boys.
Had a lie in until 9.00 then went off to surprise them. When I arrived a frank and full discussion was taking place about the arrangements for tomorrow's Regional Junior Championship.
We think there are 8 teams of 6 taking part.....although there may be less.....and some of the teams won't have 6 members.......and there may be one or two individuals. That's what happens when a National body pays peanuts...they get monkeys....and then they pass on their half completed, incompetent plans to clubs to sort out!
The boys were in dispute about how to arrange the draw. It took me almost an hour to convince them that 8 teams of 6 meant that each section had to have 8 pegs so there was one from each team in each section. In the end I had to draw it out so they could see that if, as they wanted, we went for 8 sections of 6 pegs there would be two members from the same team in some sections.
After we eventually sorted this, amidst much swearing and accusations of limited intelligence, came the problem of ensuring that each team had one member in each of the six available positions along the length of the sections. This was left to me to do, while the rest went to cool off and have a fag and a coffee.
Shaun then threw in the hand grenade...."Right, now we need Instructions for the draw for each team, and a results sheet for each section...and an overall results sheet for all 48 (or more...or less) competitors......and a results sheet for the team positions ...and a top ten competitors sheet. Now who's going to do that?"
Silence, shuffling of feet....coughing ...whistling...until I volunteered! So that was a large part of my afternoon, the result of which you can see here. To be fair Shaun and Sam did call round to "help". Strange how their idea of helping consists of playing with the cat, smoking and drinking tea.....and occasionally saying, " Oh, and can you just...."
So that was my nice, quiet, restful day.
The Boss is on her way home from Edinburgh....I think I might see her about 10.00.....and then I'm off out at 6.45 in the morning....and back around 4.00, if I'm lucky!
