Down came the rain....
I need some help with this, as my knowlege of spiders is scant, unless they are in the bath!
This type of web is known as a funnel or labyrinth and is designed to catch crawling insects.
In the centre you can see the spider, waiting patiently.
It's constructed in brambles in a south facing hedgerow, about 50 cms off the ground.
There is quite a lot of debris caught in the outer area of the web from the flowers of the overhangind sweet chestnut trees.
Taken during a heavy shower of rain.
It's Friday, once again, so have a spiffing weekend one and all.
