Black pig at Carstairs
The train south slows to a crawl at Carstairs junction, negotiating a 90 degree bend plus joining another main line, which makes for a non-blurry photo opportunity but unfortunately with rather dreary scenery (eg the Very Secure State Hospital, a gloomy place). So I'm always happy to see the hairy black pigs. I failed to get a decent shot of the piglets earlier in the year and they're not there any more; gone to bacon, every one, presumably. There seem to be just two adults remaining and the smallholder has planted out a vegetable plot on part of the pig run. Ooh, just think how fertile that ground must be, post piglets!
