The River Lee/Lea

Aparently the river Lee/Lea used to be quite big. Once the Danish sailed up it and established a base quite far up river.

So the king of England orderd that the river be divided into 3 smaller ones so they could not get back out to see.

I wonder if the boats are still stuck somewhere.
